COMPOSITIONS
Ayo Awosika is a composer, vocalist, conductor, and educator whose choral music is known for its emotional depth, expressive lyricism, and singable, voice-centered writing. Drawing from her background in classical music, jazz, gospel, soul, and contemporary vocal performance, she creates works that invite both singers and audiences into meaningful, shared experiences.
Her compositions have been commissioned and performed by ensembles across the United States, including Choral Arts Initiative, MUSE Cincinnati Women's Choir, Sister Singers Network, and Common Woman Chorus. Her arrangements and compositions have been performed by thousands of singers around the world. Whether setting the poetry of Maya Angelou or collaborating with an ensemble to tell its own unique story, Ayo approaches each commission with curiosity, care, and a deep respect for the people who will bring the music to life.
As a professional singer with more than two decades of performance experience, Ayo writes with the voice in mind—crafting music that is expressive, rewarding to sing, and designed to foster genuine connection between performers and audiences.
